Their second best, since being better than Disintegration would be a rather tall achievement. Excellent 80's vinyl here. Solid dynamics, huge soundstage, and crystal clear.

Believe the hype: this pressing is auditory bliss. It has thundering bass but sparkling mids and highs. No joke might be one of the best sounding records I own. Pretty confident it uses the same pressing plates as the original UK as well, and the result is perfection.

I agree with the 's opinion below my comment. It's quieter, but much cleaner than the releases of that year. The hits or singles on this album sound richer, for example, "Just Like Heaven" has a heavenly tone compared to other versions. The album is interestingly divided and doesn't lose its rhythm despite the number of songs. There are experimental, sad, funny and inspirational songs that attract with their themes. I liked the album as a whole, especially the artwork, which is unusual and in some ways reminiscent of love. Tragedy or fairy tale, whatever you want to call it, I'm convinced of Robert Smith's genius every time...
Anya, thank you so much ;) -
Tonepusher: “This US release has a good sound, it's a quiet vinyl with great mastering.”

I just noticed the U.S. version has “Townhouse DMM” matrices. That means Elektra just used the original U.K. cut. To boot, this was pressed by the best record plant in the United States in the 1980s, Specialty Records Corporation. No wonder the praise for the U.S. edition. -
Edited 8 years agoWhat a great album from the late 80's, but it doesn't sound as dated as other albums from that era. Easily one of their finest albums. Most the songs stand the test of time and don't succumb to the 80's cheese. Even the songs that do get wild with the horns like "Why can't I be you?" are still tolerable, and even fun, scattered sparingly through out this great record. This US release has a good sound, it's a quiet vinyl with great mastering.
