This is possibly THE "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" or "A Night at the Opera" of the emo / pop punk scene of the 2000s - a modern rock opera in every sense of the word. From the first second of "The End", Gerard and co. drag you into a grandiose, powerful yet intriguing concept album (spoilers) which details the journey of "The Patient", who is told that he has to die soon - through this mighty journey, his thoughts (from confused teenage anxiety, triumph over death, anger against parents etc.) make up the final statements he puts out. You can literally tell that this has got to be the most "Nightmare Before Christmas"-esque horror rock show ever that no other rock opera can compare to, not even "The Rocky Horror (Picture) Show" from decades prior. A solid 10 out of 10 for the record and a bloody fantastic effort from Gerard Way and the boys. Oh, and yes, this is home to one of the GREATEST UK Number Ones of the 2000s.

If somebody would do me a favor and remove "Goth Rock" from the genre, I'd greatly appreciate it. Anybody who has listened to goth music could tell you this isn't goth at all.
