Almost thought I'd discovered a new band to go down the rabbit hole over, but nope. The music is fine, exceptional at times even, but not good enough to get around some of the hokiest lyrical concepts and dorky sounding vocals ever in rock music. Sorry, not sorry....GONG!@%$!~

This is Gong's masterpiece & one of the most truly psychedelic records ever recorded. Full of free flowing & legitimately funky jam-outs seasoned with a liberal dose of Tim Blake's masterful synth bubbles. Mike Howlett & Pierre Moerlen are a world class rhythm section and deserve more praise. Highly recommended for shrooming, cruising on your skateboard fast, or shrooming & cruising on your skateboard fast.

Edited 8 years agoSo far ahead of its time. Most of this album is a perfect blue print for early 90's ambient techno.

Edited 13 years agoI began listening to music in da seventies, first early hard rock, later more jazzoriented rock like Yes, Genesis, Gentle Giant - that kind of stuff! At the same time i discovered Gong. The first record I bought was You. I can tell you now that this record gave me the mind trip of the century. I loved the album from start to end, and I still do. Every track is an adventure, the production is superb, the use of synths are very innovative and the instrumental skill are top notch. Gong made many good albums, some very funny, some too psychadelic, some more avantgarde oriented, but You is a complete album. A top ten record from the seventies IMO.
