Sounds super flat. Besides this 2xLP I only heard this comp on streaming, which sounds much better to my ear. Discs are heavy and flat (like the sound lol) at least

Edited 6 months agoDears, I'd be quite embarrassed to play this at 45rpm, it's mud, nothing more to add ... I'd rather grab the CD version, it'll play pretty much the same I think...

Edited one year agoThe version I bought doesn't have the sticker on the front of the cover, nor the card. I have no idea which version this is.

This pressing is flat, quiet and of otherwise sound quality. The digital mastering equally satisfies with great dynamics and outstanding sound. There are no complaints here. The caretakers of this release have indeed taken great care. From the early hits to the bittersweet end, anyone looking to find the bliss of NIRVANA need look no further. This compilation will enchant, mesmerize and catch you completely in its glory. Long Live Kurdt Kobain.

Edited 4 years agoI have to tell you that I am a bit disappointed with this release. For one I like the details that you can hear very clearly on this 2 x 45 RPM release, however to me it sounds "too hot". If you the 96khz/24bit tracks using the included voucher and run the files through a dynamic meter, you will notice that these files have very little dynamic range ( average DR value of 6 !!! ). That is unacceptable. I highly doubt that the vinyl version is much better in that regard. I have heard much better 2 x 45 RPM album releases. Plus why use hires digital files to make this compilation ? Weren't Nirvana's songs recorded using analogue equipment ? The Nevermind CD reads "AAD" on its back. It does not sound very analogue to begin with and it is mixed too hot. It does not sound bad but when I buy a 2 x 45 RPM 12 inch vinyl release I expect something better. Michael Fremer on Analog Planet:
"Received an email today with mastering details from UMe, which we very much appreciate:
"We used highest resolution digital files as noted below for each song. Final assembly and lacquers were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. For the lacquer cutting process only, the last two 44.1kHz 16-bit sources "All Apologies" and "The Man Who Sold The World" were up res'd to 96kHz 24-bit so all audio was a consistent resolution to cut from. For the Blu-ray Pure Audio edition these same two tracks remain as 44.1kHz 16-bit files." "

Truly impressed with this 45rpm version! Great sounding perfectly flat records. Wow. Really makes a difference finding quality presses. Found it brand new in Poland on sale. Equipment is a Rega P6 turntable.

Sounds amazing, especially considering most of the material is digital and that this is a Netherlands issue. Both records are warped (it thankfully doesn't affect the sound) but I blame the store for it.
