Notes

This is the Indianapolis pressing of the original US release as indicated
by a capital "I" stamped in runout on both sides (note: stampings may be faint)

Recorded at Hansa by the Wall, Berlin. Mixed at Mountain Studios, Montreux.

Lyrics are printed on the inner sleeve.

Initial copies included an insert for the Bowie Fan Club offer.

STERLING, I, A1, A2, and B3 stamped in runouts, the rest etched.

Similar to David Bowie - "Heroes" but black label is different; far smaller pressing ring on this release.
This edition and its match (David Bowie - "Heroes") contain a rescan of the lyric sheet, reproducing it at a lower quality.

Heroes is a bold, experimental triumph, with Brian Eno's ambient textures helping to weave an immersive soundscape that I love and which is integrated well with Bowie's straight-up rock power, pop sensibility, and artsy schtick. Beyond the iconic title track, the album's lack of radio-friendly hits doesn't detract from its brilliance, though it will take more investment than a cursory listen. This US 1st pressing is highly dynamic and warm with excellent depth and separation. Bowie's voice and Fripp's guitar work stand out. Excellent condition 1st pressings can still be found relatively cheap, jump on it if found while digging.

Not sure I've ever had a 1st US pressing before, my others were always the AYL reissues. Listening on headphones and a good tube system I'm reminded all over again what an astounding record this is. I love when Bowie layers on guitars and sings like he's inside a hurricane. 10/10

Great soundstage on the B side in this one. With good headphones you can clearly hear subtle details which are obscured in most versions. A side has nice dynamics and detail, but is a bit bright. My copy has a little bit of distorted bass in Sense of Doubt. Overall a very satisfying pressing.
