I take no pleasure in providing a work of art a negative review, but "Variations II" simply has no redeeming qualities beyond random electronic noise. There are no harmonies, no themes, no pathos. It is simply the auditory equivalent of John Carpenter's "The Thing" attempting to mate with an electric guitar surplus store.
