Bought my copy in the late 90s, and it didn't play from day 1. Bronzing on the label side, but playing side is silver. The sound is distorted as if it's playing way too loud for the speakers. Is this disc rot, or just a bad encode? I have a few discs from the 80s like this; bronzed labels, but the playing side is silver and the discs play fine. This is my only 'unplayable' disc.

I have one of the "Made in U.K. by PDO" CDs. It is un-rippable. Filled with C2 errors. I can see through the disc (partially) when strong light is behind it.

RE: Disc Rot “Has anyone else had this problem?" Yes, I have 5 copies of the UK issue. Four of them went bad (unplayable), yet one still plays fine. Fortunately, my West /PDO copy, also in a cardboard cover, is fine, as is the Canadian 5-track CD single. -
Disc degraded over the years to the point of becoming unplayable. Has anyone else had this problem?
