There is an other version from Deenasty (french hip hop pioneer) on his excellent and unknown LP System Dee, the track is called tribute to FBI crew!

Edited 3 years agoREENO: The movie project was originally titled "Cry of the City" when filming started in early 1984. It was produced by Michael Franzese, an ex-mob boss who had links to New York's violent Colombo crime family. Due to legal issues, the movie's release was postponed for almost two years.
The distribution company then re-named the movie to "Knights of the City" upon its release in 1986.
Besides its pretty cool score, the movie has, artistically speaking, not much going for it unfortunately. It does have somewhat of a cult following though. VHS only, no streaming or DVD from what I know. Hope this helps. -

This was always one of my favorite records from my breakdancing childhood. I loved the beats, baseline and the lyrics, specifically where they go thru their names, "Break 1, Break 2, etc." I always wondered if Mighty Rock from Double Duce was one of the breakers.

Edited 19 years agoThe F.B.I. Crew were a Miami area breakdance crew who were cast in the film "Knights of the City" (aka "Cry of the City"). This was to be their theme song from the film, although their breakdancing scenes were cut from the movie.
Joe Granda of the group went on to find fame as Nice & Wild, the act that produced the freestyle mega-hit "Diamond Girl".
Amos Larkins III was recruited by Henry Stone's Sunnyview Records camp as a producer for local rap hits after this record made some waves locally. As a result, Amos went on to be the first producer in Miami to sustain the 808 kickdrum, founding the Miami Bass sound in 1985.
