The only way to tell the difference that I know of between this version and the one without the CDs included is the hype sticker on sealed copies. Purchased a new one here and it came without the CDs. There is a separate listing for the version without the CDs included but only the vinyl.

Edited 3 years agoAbsolute killer compilation. I've got a few of the classic albums but to be honest I go back to this one the most. It's a carefully chosen collection of tunes which hit the sweet spot between experimentation, repetition and tunefulness. It's very listenable but has a bit of a kick to it. Interesting how they all somehow fit together bearing in mind the vast time period it covers - testament to the timelessness of his music

Outstanding sound quality, extremely silent (even during extended quiet ages), and my copy is warp free. This is a highly recommended collection!

Amazing packaging and stunning recordings make this Sun Ra compilation a must-have for your collection. The vinyl is clean and has remarkable clarity and depth. It is currently out of print but several are available for reasonable prices on Discogs. This represents a phenomenal value because Sun Ra records are usually prohibitively priced and highly valued by collectors. No disappointments here. The Sun Man delivers.

Edited 9 years agono doubt this is great collection and introduction to Sun Ra. Though both vinyls are wavy. Not sure if this is general pressing issue or only bad luck.
-
While perhaps not as helpful of an introduction to Sun Ra as say Greatest Hits - Easy Listening for Intergalactic Travel, this compilation is nonetheless quite ambitious and adventurous. Instead of following the chronological order of the jazz great's career, this album, which is curated by a former bandmate, flows more like a great mix tape. And some of the tracks on here sound better than I've ever heard them before. There's also a beautiful gatefold that is loaded with great information and photos. Also comes with two CD copies of the album. Such a pleasure to see so much care put into a release. Highly recommended.
