Edited 3 years agoMy copy has several variations to its cover art and the innersleeve.
The outer sleeve has a white label saying "PROMO COPY-NOT FOR RESALE, WARNER BROS RECORDS AND TAPES, PROVIDED WITH THE HOPE THAT YOU WILL USE THIS FOR IN-STORE PLAY."
I'm guessing my copy was sent to a record shop with a stake in selling Sire and WB records.
The front cover also has the title of the album across the top in a golden print like the later editions do, it actually ISN'T BLANK, and I don't think it's meant to be. What's even more interesting is that this artists name title appears to be a water-decal or printed tape with "Talking Heads/More Songs About Buildings and Food" printed on it, rather than being printed on the sleeve itself.
The inner sleeve of my copy as well has absolutely no lyrics, but a description of the back covers art of the reproduction of the Portrait USA using photomosaic technology.
Interesting LP release, certainly has a bit of magic to it, you'll never really know what you get. -
There are different cover-art versions for this one. Some European issues show "Artist/Name of release" above the front-cover-pic in varying colors with or without a small beam blocking out the picture.

i have a version of this that has a spotted cover -- in all other respects it looks like the original cover but the spots are small white/green irregular sizes and it definitely looks like part of the printing process. does anyone know if others were produced like this or if this was just a printing error? i got it within a couple years after its release at a regular record store and it might have been in a cutout bin but there are no notches or cut corners.
