There were definitely black copies made officially. We had some week of release at our store.

If you own the smells like teen spirit single and the incesticide compilation and you're not a Nirvana completionist, skip this one. There are no exclusive tracks on here at all. -
All the counterfeits I've seen have the showerhead airbrushed out on the cover. So if you ever find one that you think, maybe this one is some rare unknown variant, be sure you can see the showerhead. Having a showerhead doesn't guarantee it is legit, but not having a showerhead guarantees it is fake.

Putting this out there in case anyone knows who has this copy; Back in the day my old man and I had a good chat with Frank at Waterfront in the old store? Where was it, Clarence St or Pitt St. Anyway he told us about the day he took Kurt and Courntey out on Sydney Harbour on his boat and general stuff like that. Then he said to wait while he went and got something. Came back with a mint copy of Hormoaning COVERED in graffiti from the guys. Dave had written a long letter to his mum, "Hi mom, havign a great time " etc. Kurt had coloured his thumb in and put the print on the sleeve and signed it and I forget what Krist wrote, but the entire 12" sleeve was covered in black sharpy signatures notes and drawings. was SO cool. Turned it down as he said it was $1000. KICKING myself. So someone in this world has that framed somewhere. Tracked Frank down many years later on email and he simply said "It's long gone!" :)

I have one of the 4000 original copies and seeing one on Bank Street Records in Adelaide back in the day. It was a signed copy for $40. Wonder what that would be worth these days! -
Edited 6 years agoMy copy has a promo sticker over the barcode. I heard only a few of these have surfaced, most likely added by some reseller. Anyone else have any info? I bought my copy in 2011.
