Sounds like crap. Replace it with a blue or black label pressing.

Picks this up from my favorite local record store. Super clean and sleeve is great. I tend to agree with the “thin” comments—seems to lack dynamic range to hit high and low frequencies. Tweaked the treble and bass a little. Plays perfect though, no surface noise at all. Checked the block on the Discogs 100 list.

Just procured a NM copy of this OG Allied pressing. Reading plenty of criticism about it being a thin, bright pressing, lacking in bass. I'll be honest. My ears were trained by the cassette tape of this album, back in the late 1980s. This sound is exactly as I it.

Not a great pressing, but decent. High frequencies are harsh on some songs, not all. New Year's Day sounds very good. A4 has a strange EQ notch that seems to swallow the bass on the 2nd chord of every verse.

The matrix info on mine matches this, but it has the black Island label instead. Could it be a later uncatalogued repress?

A thin shit recording. I picked up a random War pressing in a dollar bin at a record store and grabbed this copy because the vinyl was so clean and less than $5. To my surprise this was a US first pressing. Then i put the album on and heard the thinnest vocals I've ever heard.

When people say that a record sounds thin, let me explain what they are hearing. Basically, the deeper the grooves on the record, the heavier the bass frequencies are. This record had little to no bass on it with all vocals and guitars existing in the upper mids and highs range. Everything lacked heft and volume only giving way to a tinny shallow metallic sound.

Yes, at ten dollars this album will get the job done and your friends won't even notice. But for everyone else it's a clearly an inferior record that literally sounds like a recording of a recording.
