This is on par with the rest of the smiths reissues, all absolutely fantastic in sound. Overall this is very clean. I am not getting a flat sound. I can understand the harsh/bright complaints and I would agree this is a little thinner than the rest but still amazing. Queen is dead remaster is very thick for example. However, I am hearing that this albums OG’s also have that sound and that’s just how the album was mixed in general? I see some say this remaster is better than their OG UK & US. The US smiths albums on sire are VERY bright, so I wonder how this compares to an OG us. I am much more interested in if this is the definitive pressing, if it’s better than the OG’s in general? Which is what I am reading.

I’d like to get a OG US copy because that contains how soon is now, but now I’m questing if I should bother with a UK OG of this album.

Really good sound quality to my ears. Quiet pressing. I would try against my 1st press but that has warped … hence the new purchase.

This is as least as good as a 1985 original French pressing, to my ears.

The pressing itself is very good and clean, but the actual audio? Man, it's very compressed and flat. It's not horrible, but it sounds like a CD master

Flatter than a tortilla... sounds as if it was ripped from a poor CD copy. Back to sender...

This is the only pressing I've heard of this fantastic album. I don't know exactly why, but the sound on several of the songs just doesn't hit right. It works on some of the tunes, especially slower ones like "Well I Wonder", but the more dynamic/louder songs come across a bit harsh and unpleasant. It could just be the recording, but I have a feeling this record could be presented in a better way. Pressing quality is good, though.

Really good press and good sound. Abit of sssiblance but then the albums always been abit rough there in some spots, otherwise good body and expanse of sound. Pressing wise and while Optimal do frequently love to mess theirs up these days this is a good one. Although this comes hairlined and in a card inner after an ultrasonic clean it plays flat, well centre'd and quietly enough throughout. Worth the £18 paid for sure!

Sidenote... My 2009 Rhino US version was appallingly bad so avoid that and get this if you want a quiet reissue.

An awesome pressing of, in my opinion, the best record from The Smiths. Highly recommended.

Fantastic pressing! The packaging is great and it sounds excellent. Great bass sound and nice clear guitars.

Geat sounding, dead quiet, and flat pressing. Great artwork replica + inner sleeve. Recommended.
