i hv both this US OG pressing and the OG japan. the US OG is miles ahead of the japanese in of mastering and dynamics. track used for comparison: "all nite long" . if im not wrong, the US was cut from the master by bernie grundman, and the japanese was re-eqed and cut from a dub by an unknown japanese engineer

Fantastic record! The vinyl is super quiet, and Bernie Grundman's mastering shines! Warm, detailed and brings these great songs to life!

Edited one year agoThis is a great album. I am a Metal Head to the core but love 70/80's funk/soul music. "Love Will Find a Way" and "Running with the Night" are great tracks that remind me of hot summer nights in the 80's. If there is one album by Lionel you should own its this one. I have a few but this one gets played again and again.
I have a re-release on compact disc and it sounds great except its to trebly. I normally prefer brighter recordings but there seems to be something wrong with how "bright" it is. Ordered an older version of it and waiting to see if its a better balance.
*** Update 8/17/23 - The reason the newer copy is much brighter is because the original was mastered using "pre-emphases" and that boosts the treble and then played back the CD player runs in pre-emphases mode and reduces the treble. This wasn't don't often and not sure why. So if you rip or copy the CD improperly the treble will be highly boosted. When I ripped the original CD to MP# the treble was boosted. I do not have MP3 software that s pre-emp. -
Nice 80's vinyl sound, very musical and pleasure to listen to all the way! cheap record with great entertainment value! Great sounds before the digital revolution..
