Cheap photoshop effects aside, "Some Friendly" as many agree, stays a timeless debut album enjoyable now as it was then. Thirty years on and despite the "Madchester" vibe all over it, The Charlatans beat many Mancunians at their own game. The LP originally didn't include their smash hit "The Only One I Know" and to be honest, too bad the CD does. Nothing wrong with the song, but listening to the whole album, that one sure is hugely overrated...

Refreshing to listen to, particularly for a Gen-Xer such as myself. While some of the songs deserve to be put in a biscuit barrel and shoved into the Thames, the gems are worth the bother.
