Word to the wise. The 11-18-71 date, at least on my copy, is very faint. This is probably why the pricer at Amoeba put this out on the rack at $9.99. Hah. sucker! Inspect closely, my friends.

The copy I bought had a 1cm or so promo hole cut into it, which is what led me to inspect closely. No other promo indications. It also had the 211 things insert, and no sticker on the front.

This is pretty rare. I’ve inspected practically every copy of hot rocks I’ve seen over the years, and I’ve only ever come across 2 copies of this - coincidentally, I found them both on the same day at the same record store. Wish I hadn’t sold both of them, it’s an interesting curio.

I have the impression that the songs in the record 1 sound like saturated, the bass is drowned, the treble is not sharp and the whistle is exaggerated. It does not mean that it is a bad press, it is that, comparing it with the released monkey mixes recently and its quality is impressive. Something similar happened to me with the presses in mono of the beatles, logically the best results are obtained reproducing them in a team with mono cartridge. Details are appreciated that in the stereo mix not.
We must not forget that the mixtures were originally made in mono and later copies were made with false stereo or with second generation teachers, which affected the final result.
So and everything is one of my favorite compilations, along with sucking in the 70's

Why is there 2 different front cover pictures with this version, one with sticker and one without? Did the mispress have the sticker or not, or is that not an indication one way or another? This would be important if someone has a sealed copy and does not want to open it...in other words no reason to open ands check if mispress can be ruled out simply by presence or not of the sticker.

I have a version of this with the same indications as in the Notes but it is no mispress. The only other difference is that on side four the date in the run out groove is "12-3-71" instead of 11-18-71. This version has the regular takes of "Brown sugar" and "Wild horses".
