Different pressings of this tune are spelled either "Electrik" or "Elektrik", but it's the same song group either way.
Another ahead-of-its-time Prelude masterpiece, still played by David Mancuso at The Loft. The vocal side is a bit cheesey to my ears and nothing to get excited about, IMO, so flip this over and enjoy the relentless, dark, stark, Electronic Disco of NYC production veterans Eric Matthew and Darryl Payne. It's mostly instrumental, with cool, almost subliminal vocoded mumblings incorporated into the mix, with trippy stereo panning. The beat is stacatto 4/4 with an electro feel rather than a disco or house feel. If you're an audiophile fanatic like I am, get THIS white-label promo 12" version, which was cut at 45rpm, giving it that slight sonic edge over the more common commercial 33rpm pressing. This record is really well-produced and engineered to begin with, so either version will satisfy: both US pressings were mastered by lacquer-cutting legend Herbie Powers Junior!
