Missy Elliott was in the late 1990s brought in as one of the most talented new artists in the hip hop and r&b, a promise that they fully realised with the solo album Miss e. .. So Addictive (2001) and production work (with Buddy Timbaland) for countless other artists. With the success came also the setbacks. Two of her direct protegees (singer Aaliyah and Rap Star Lisa ' Left Eye ' Lopez) killed at a young age. The fallout thereof can be heard on the album Under Construction, which regularly to the tragic events are referred to. For the rest, she is old fashioned on drove with explicit sexual raps and soulful vocals. The cover photo refers to the early days of hip hop (old skool), without all the ' banjar ' as she puts it. Also the music on Under Construction is stripped of all unnecessary ballast, the plate is characterized by effective beats and relatively little musical jokes. That the status of Elliott guest contributions from prominent guests prove is unaffected as Beyoncé Knowles, Jay-Z, Ludacris and TLC.
