Edited one month agoCouldn't disagree more with the Vienna comment below. I am obsessed with sound quality and after a normal quick clean and a blast of the Furutech 3 antistatic gizmo I played all 4 sides and the clarity of the sound and placing of the instruments is outstanding.
Sam Smith's voice rises and hangs in the Albert Hall air.
Another plus point is some of the material on the album has not been recorded before. And this brings me on to my final point. I don't think this is available to stream, I have used Qobuz for years and it's not on Qubuz (typically RSD releases are held back for 6 or more months or simply not released digitally) so it does beg the question what was Vienna listening to because it wasn't this ??? -
Compared to the Highres Version on Qobuz or the lower res (but anyhow good sounding version on Spotify) this pressing sounds a tad too dull. Played it on a Rega P6 via a Rega Elicit and very bright and tranparent sounding ATC SCM11 Studio Monitors. Audience of the live recording sounds like sitting behind a heavy curtain. There is not this deep atmosphere like on the digital version. Vinyl itself has very rough and sharp edges. Even with some loose vinyl parts in the sleeves. Inner sleeves are paper only. So all in all they made a 6 star album (musically spoken) to a 3 star vinyl.

Truly one of the most beautiful live albums i've ever heard. Very happy to have it in my collection.

I normally avoid buying concert records, as most of the time, it's a miss more than a hit and sounds the same as streaming. Surprisingly, this is a hit. Sam's vocals are pronounced and forward, and you can clearly hear the accompanying orchestra and band with good soundstage and bass. As with all records packaged in paper sleeves, I made sure that the records were (wet) cleaned before play. Both records are flat and quiet with hardly a pop or crackle.
