MASSIVE regret not reading the reviews here first but 100% CONFIRMED that the 5.1 option plays the Doctor INSTRUMENTAL. JFC!? 🤦♂️🤬
Ridiculous lack of QC (sadly typical these days) and especially given the price BUT as long as the masses accept these things and droolingly rate an inferior product highly, why would companies put in any effort. I get that there is still wonderful content on this disc but IT IS NOT a FIVE STAR product. Full stop.
Capitalism is controlled by corporations as long as the masses stay on the teet. -
Put disc in > Select DTS 5.1 track for the album > 30 seconds in can instantly spot a problem - Doctor Doctor is the instrumental version. Reads around the internet, yep it's a thing, If we can spot something in 30 seconds, why can't the (supposed?) QA department do the same?
Poor authoring at work here.
I'd probably have let it go if it wasn't one of the most expensive BR's to acquire at 1p short of £35 -

Edited 5 months agoPlease note, there is a fault on the 2024 Album Mixes DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. The track "Doctor! Doctor!" plays the Instrumental Version and not the Vocal Version.

Edited 5 months agoDisappointed (although, technicall I understand why) that the remixes are not Atmos as well. Otherwise, wonderful. Stereo mixes are however, pristine. This is music from the 80s remix era. There are many remixes included I have never heard. -
The stereo mixes are fantastic
The original mix has no limiting and sounds amazing.
The 2024 mix also has no limiting and also sounds amazing although it’s a tad more laid back than the original but not in a bad way.
The 2024 remaster of the original mix has some limiting applied but it’s not aggressive and results in a 6dB volume increase and it bit more power. It still sounds good though.
The 30 bonus tracks generally have no limiting applied (a couple appear to) but are generally well mastered. Some of the remixes can sound a tad muddy here but expect that’s due to multiple tape generations being used to create the remix and is on the source tape. -
Canada Post is on strike here in Canada, so I'll prob be waiting a while for this to arrive. In the meantime, I'm here for the comments!
