After Prince wrote "Sugar Walls" for Sheena Easton a few years prior to "Sign 'O' The Times," Sheena and Prince began collaborating, writing several songs together for Sheena as well as other artists. While working on the "Times" album, Prince bet Sheena that if he were to give her any title for a song - no matter how outlandish - that she wouldn't be able to write it. Sheena took Prince up on the bet and he told her to write a song called "La, La, La, He(e), He(e), Hee." Not one to turn down a challenge, Sheena came back - with a few spelling changes in the title and a looped sample of a dog barking, added by his Purpleness - with what is now the B-side to the title track from "Sign 'O' The Times."
