Conor’s most bleak and depressing songs since Ruminations, only these ones aren’t as snappy and poetic. Feels a lot more impressionistic/jammy than they usually do. While that’s a novel twist for a Bright Eyes record, the group just doesn’t flourish this far outside their comfort zone. -
I bought this version because for some reason it was about 10€ cheaper than the standard black (still definitely not cheap though).
Both my records are a bit warped (probably due to the extremely tight shrink wrapping) but this doesn't affect playback at all. They're quiet and dynamic, without crackling.
Packaging is quite good and the splatter color is nice, however it makes the etching on side D almost unnoticeable -
The vinyl itself looks very cool, and the packaging is great; well considered and clean. Both records were clean, flat, and dynamic which I don't always expect from colored vinyl. We hear every break and warble in Conor's voice, worse for the wear but well captured here. -
Second record is not perfectly flat but still plays without issues and sounds great. Love the red and orange splatter, very unique in my collection!
