This was the second Bang! release on Next Generation and the first to feature vocals by Jo James. The previous track Cloudy Daze was already an anthem, and Shooting Star turned out even better. Wonderful melody, memorable lyrics, great vocals. The track was so good that it got covered and remixed in mainstream styles, rather than hardcore covering pop records as was more usual. This record established the pattern of each Bang! release having a mix by Brisk on one side and one by Ham on the other. Both sides are good but for me the Ham mix is the better of the two. Brisk's Euro mix comes straight in with the chorus line after the intro, which I think feels a bit abrupt. Ham's arrangement has a longer intro with a nice gradual build up, giving you more to play with when you mix it in, and then it pulls back the energy again when the vocals begin, before building back up into the chorus when the beat drops. I also prefer the harder kick and bass on Ham's version.

Edited 8 years agoI personally don't consider this hardcore - it sounds more like a eurovision entry

Slipmatt's review of side A in Muzik magazine:
"After the success of the massive anthem 'Cloudy Daze', Bang follow up their debut with another massive cut. The classic 'Apache' break chops its way in, then builds with strings to break down into a big expressive vocal with piano and snare rolls. The tune them smashes back in with even more expressive vocals. This will be massive. 9/10" -
I was first introduced to this song playing Dnace Dance Revolution 5th Mix at our mall. I just couldn't get it out of my head. As i was heading out I stoped by the CD store to find out that this song was on my favorit cd series, Happy 2b Hardcore, so i bought it a week later (as i had spent all my money at the arcade) This song has been my theme song forever. It is so uplifting and inspireing. Bang! did a great job with this song and is helping break the steryotype of Happy Hardcore music being only for rollers.
