Stellar pressing of what is likely one of the most important records so far this century - a true landmark in the evolution of jazz. Jaimie is so sadly missed.

Edited 10 months agoOne listen - immediate purchase! What an energetic avant-garde jazz. These guys rock. So sad that the lady has gone. She certainly will be in good company with the late great jazzers of the electric 70s.
Beautiful metallic shine cover art and useful poster. This is not an audiophile release (like the UHQRs, 1Steps, Ultradisc hypies) but an outstanding good sounding and honest album. No complaints as to pressing quality.
Highest recommendation! Also for rock fans who are open to jazz. -
Impossible to hear this album without thinking about this being jamie branch's last album with her boundary transcending quartet Fly or Die. Again they show their mix of genres, which became their own signature of turning hard and dark edges from punk to free into something positive, relieving, and forward looking. They even add some new flavours to the ever evolving organic blend, which opens the unanswered question what this band might have come up with next. I love every tone of it, the unique cello by Lester St. Louis, the dancing bass by Jason Ajemian, the fantastic Chad Taylor on drums. But here goes a deep bow to jamie branch, a stellar inventor of music beyond categories.

Edited one year agoalbum of the year, hands down. reminds me of the mighty Dog Faced Hermans in spots! my copy sounds totally fine btw, no issues at all.

It is beyond my comprehension to understand how Jaimie transcends any genre here. A universe that is All love and energy. What beauty!
Sadly, my brandnew vinyl copy crackles like it is a 100 years old. The overall sound is ok but definitely not great. Other International Anthem releases (Jeff Parker, Makaya McCraven) seem to suffer from quality issues, too. They put so much effort in their releases, so I wonder why that happens. Maybe pressing plants give a s**t about small record companies?
