Edited 5 months agoOh man! Love this album a lot despite its reputation of being the most controversial Strokes record. The guitar composition on this one is amazing and this is the group at their peak aggressiveness.
In of the sound quality, it’s fuller and more dynamic than any other pressing of this record and what you will hear on any streaming platforms. Finally can hear the rumbling bass and the snare doesn’t sound like small tin can. With so much music cramped in one disc, it’s very important to crank the volume up (it was cut at a low volume).
However, it’s still an ear fatiguing experience. I have a strong feeling there was clipping even during recording (guitar sounds clipped in some loud parts). This could be also due to brickwalling in the mastering stage but clipping is very audible.
This is cut from the same lacquers MOV used in 2013. This is still readily available so grab this if you can.
The poster and artwork inside is 100/100!

Cool looking vinyl, free of pops/cracks/sibilance, sounds fine to my ears. You do have to turn it up a little bit as it is ~52 minutes crammed onto two sides.

Flat, silent and punchy. The vinyl colour is lovely too and fits the overall aesthetic. Contains a nice foldout insert featuring the band (This perhaps should've been used as the album cover) and artwork to represent each track. FIOE, the 'difficult' third album is definitely a case of an album of two sides. Side A is my absolute favourite run of Strokes tracks and quite different to anything they have done before (or since). Side B is mostly uninteresting and largely forgettable which is a shame.
