Just to avoid anyone getting scared. My copy sounds great. No issues with the recording or the pressing. Maybe some people are mistaking the drone that comes with using uilleann pipes, concertina, bowed strings and tape loops for compression...
-
Bit surprised about the negative comments here. Very good pressing and far away from sounding flat or compressed.

I am glad I am not alone in finding this pressing just north of dreadful… disappointing at best… great music though, thank the gods for Qobuz
-
As others, poor pressing, no matter how many cleans on the RCM, and yes dull recording. This music deserves a much better pressing.
-
Great music but an absolutely dreadful pressing flat and muffled. One of the worst sounding albums in my entire collection.
-
Actually quite bummed about this pressing. Phenomenal music, sure, but if you know how good records can actually sound if done well, this is pretty disappointing.
Qualitywise it's fine (if you ignore the awful paper innersleeves) silent vinyl and no clicks, but it just sounds so so flat and compressed. -

Edited 2 years agoAOTY until further notice. A stunning and unique take on Irish folk music. Pressing is top notch, dead silent, and room filling. Gorgeous gatefold art too.
