The lead sample in Incident is taken from "Santana - Samba de Sausalito".

Both good track - I have my preferences in reverse to some here. I like the hip swinging crossover track, Incident, but am much more drawn to the chugging beast that is Shining. It is less original in that there are plenty of tracks in this style going back to the early to mid 90's (i.e. heard c. '94 downstairs at Voodoo, Le Bateau, Liverpool), but this is a really good one.

For me are "Shining" still a Masterpiece of a Track. Sadly the BD and the Acidline sounds Digital to thin. The 12" beats you up and sounds deffo more phat. I'ts surprising how fast, hard and fresh some early Joris Tracks still are. To sad that he lost his uncompromising freshness today. His Productions the last years getting more weak and drifting down staight into mainstream nirvana.

what is it that you would have to overdose to prefere this over the UR mix of "the colour of love" by The Reese Project?

No 1 "Techno" track of 2004 (A - Incident) !! ... Joris Voorn got that "Piano Vs Groove" thing sorted on this one :) ... It´s a total bomb on the floor and fast as hell btw ?? ... Back in 04 things got a bit stupid fast (140 Bpm´s ?) ... Never beaten, never improved !! // Tommy

Absolutely wicked unique tracks that was canned all over at the time , the piano one is the one thou and instantly recognisable very old skool and uplifting making this one of the most memorable techno tracks at that time . You would of heard this been played if you were clubbing around that time from all credable techno and even house Djs . A big cross over appeal with this one and definately a party starter or peak time monster

Voorn knew what he was doing when he created his "Future History" project and along comes "Incident" which somehow after four years is still getting played by many DJ's probably due to Youtube which now seems to be a key place to find many Electronic artists old tunes. What makes "Incident" a special moment is the very soulful licks in the piano breakdown which comes after a typical loopy techno groove with faux Rob Base "Woo, Yeah" from "It Takes Two
". I should throw in Lyn Collins for the origin. Anyway Voorn has done good things in a short period of time. If you are going back catalog, start here. And last but not lease, I hear Imaginations 1982 track "Just An Illusion" in what appears to be a sampled melody line. Anyone want to confirm that, please do.

I can't believe no one's said anything about this release! Put simply, 'Incident' is an absolute monster of a track, so different to most techno tracks released before or since. It combines pounding rhythms with unbelievably funky loops and some really emotive piano chords which make the track instantly recognisable. This is possibly my favourite techno track of all time! On the flip side, 'Shining' is a slightly deeper and more repetitive affair with some trancey synth pads thrown into the mix. A decent track in its own right but not a patch on incident. The version found here is also inferior to the remixes found on the vinyl release of voorn's album - Future History.
