Spine and labels state: David Bowie
Historical documentation indicates Mercury catalogued the album as "David Bowie", as per the UK release.

First pressing indicated by the labels lacking both the circled dot ⊙ symbol within the Mercury logos and the “Manufactured and Distributed by Mercury Record Productions, Inc.” text as per release Man Of Words/Man Of Music.

Uncredited front cover photography is by Vernon Dewhurst.

Artwork on the back cover entitled ’The Depth of the Circle’ by George Underwood.

Track timing for A2 (Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed) is incorrect. Timing shows original time for this track combined with the following 'hidden' track (Don't Sit Down) as it appears on the master tape. Don't Sit Down was removed prior to release seemingly after labels were prepared. Actual time is approx 6:09. Among worldwide first issues, Don't Sit Down was removed from the Mercury North American releases only, while all Philips issues contain the track.

Note: Only A1 was produced by Gus Dudgeon. The labels credit Dudgeon with production of B3 (Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud) also, but this version was produced by Tony Visconti as per the remainder of the album. Dudgeon produced the original single version of this track, but the album version was a re-recording with notably more instrumentation.

Runouts are stamped except '1-11, 1-1, MR' are etched.
