Picked this up the first week it was out and have a super quiet press. Dead quiet and dynamic. Must have got lucky

Edited 4 months agoFor those with noisy copies, this was pressed at United Record Pressing. They are notorious for a lack of quality control. There are clean pressings out there.
I bought my copy right around the time it was released. I have Spin-Cleaned it and am using a thinner profile stylus (AT-VM95SH). I only heard a few barely noticeable pops of static on “Coronado” and “He Would Have Laughed”. Otherwise my copy is clean and sounds good. The bass drum on “Helicopter” is not as prevalent on this LP as the digital.
It might be that the first run from this stamper are cleaner and later runs are noisy. Just for clarity with other people’s comments saying multiple variations exist. My copy is opaque white. There are two spots on Side A that have a small black mark and brown mark in the white. These are from the vinyl puck and not defects. “Desire Lines” is the shortened/edited version. My copy came with a see through sticker on the shrink wrap with the band and title. Call me a philistine, but I peeled that sticker off and put it on the cover.

Got this as an accidental free add-in with Micro/Wierd. If this wasn't free...I don't know man. I am not picky, have no issue listening through fuzz typically, but this is bananas - it is so goddamn noisey. The record beyond it actually sounds really great, really strong improvement on digital versions. If you're chill like that and can get a decent price - eh, what the hell. Ultimately - I'm down with it. Plan to listen again v-soon regardless bc banger.

press is decent apart from the near minute long rotation pop on earthquake and the compressed desire lines with the musical blueballing of the sudden fadeout of the outro. revival sounds better than the digital master but thats the only track that even compares.
-
Really poor pressing of a great album. My advice is to go for another pressing a stay far away from this one.

I bought this in Berlin and the cover is better quality, and desire lines is not edited. Also, it sounds a lot better than the first US version I had. It’s more than likely an EU pressing as was Microcastle, which was also white and pressed in .

Why on earth do I want an edited version of Desire Lines? This album is great. This pressing cheats the standout song.

Damn, i own the record for 9 years now but i've never heard about the edit on 'desire lines'... untroo fan alert!
Just listened to it once again and, unfortunately, i don't have this other mysterious pressing with the full-length version as stated on the other reference's page & on S. Hoffman forums.
My copy has a few pops on that tracks but doesn't sound as bad as some have reported.
