Sounds terrible. Pops, static everywhere, even on louder spots. Why is it going up in price? Don't bother with this pressing.
-
Pressing I have pales in comparisson to the pressing a buddy had, for the simple reason that the record cut on mine is on the tail end of Ars Moriendi where his cuts at the end of Pink Cigarette, a beautiful spot to flip a record. I lived in a shitty apartment with him and he'd always spin it while I was taking a nap after work, I so vividly thinking the first time it came on his TT bit the dust somehow.

still have a copy of this, why is it selling so high these days? should i dupe someone since i was duped myself?

I bought this pressing new when it was released and I have been disappointed by it ever since. I just purchased the MOV release and I'm hoping it blows away this shitty pressing of one of the greatest albums ever made.

Actually to be fair, the record is notably "less loud" than most, lots of cracks and pops, yes, but I have seen worse and if you raise the volume the music is here and it does not sound THAT bad...

Edited 4 years agoDo the earth and it's people a favor and place this Plain Recordings release directly into the recycling bin, and immediately seek out a copy of the Music On Vinyl reissue of this brilliant album.

DO NOT buy this pressing from Plain Recordings... Just as other s have said, an amazing album but the sound is just terrible. Huge let down... Unluckily, I blindly bought their 3 releases under this pressing, and the 3 are just as bad, no wonder they were cheap. If you just want to have an object that spins... Buy this. But if you are here for the music, stay with the CD's or older pressings!

Didn't have any complaints as far as sound quality on my copy like some of the other reviews. The packaging is rather basic and lacking though.
