Crush was a minor Paul van Dyk hit at the time, played in most PvD sets for a year or two. The story as to how the original Second Sun track became "feat. Second Sun" is not entirely clear to me. Paul did the same thing with Hemstock & Jennings for Nothing But You, a track he also played out to the point of exhaustion. One can argue whether the creative core of these tracks lies with the original artists, but it's true that PvD gave them both a professional big-room polish.

I gave the Vandit 12" a spin after a long while, and the production and pressing remains remarkably clear almost 19 years later, particularly Antoine Toupin's stalker vocals which are mixed to perfection on the PvD Remix, alternating between a cavernous mainroom and your living room. All three versions build a masterclass early-2000s trance-pop tension. Probably the most memorable entry in PvD's bleak post-Columbia catalogue. Also check out Second Sun's decent synthpop original.

While the track is great, and the mixes are equally good, it cannot be denied that the best mix is not on ANY of these releases.

Crush (PVD Album Remix) is not on any release here. It's on the 2x12" vinyl of Reflections in unmixed form, and that's it.

No CD release, no digital .

Find the vinyl. The PVD Album Remix is THE version.

WOW! PvD opened with this track on his newest production album, Reflections, and it is an ANTHEM. It features the traditional banging kicks and backsynths that pvd is well known for, but it is the synth uplift after the breakdown that makes this the 5/5 that it is! Grab this one while it's new and you still can! A+
