Half good, half mediocre album in my opinion, like many albums of this era. Vocals are really annoying but some great guitars work. The cover is also beautiful. Definitely a lot of hype on this but there are clearly better options out there for a fraction of the money this will cost.

The RidingEasy reissue is available for streaming on Tidal. The vinyl currently on pre-order should sound about the same.

Listen to podcast. There's no master tape. The RidingEasy reissue is taken from the Rockaway CD.

Dylan from Noble Records is involved in the Permanent Records reissue and has his own exclusive (red vinyl), they've apparently been working hard wtih the surviving band to reissue it this year (2024). These records are official (no bootlegs/unofficial), and really high quality apparently. I have ordered a copy and have very high hopes, Dylan is a super intelligent and great guy and he's well respected in the collecting comunity.

Per his video: 500 copies on black, 500 on clear, and 1k on red:

I don't have the album just listened online to hear what the fuss is about. The vocals dominate and are often intense screaming or preachy comparable to J. Morrison which grates after a while. The actual instrumentation is good without being great and and very acceptable for 2nd tear rock from the 70s. There are no "songs" with a hook or a melody that stick in your head, so for me would not warrant repeated listens.

Important point.., this is basic rock music, Think The Doors just a bit heavier or "stodgier" as I like to describe hard rock without much variety ... No hint of psychedelic or prog rock present.

I am somebody that actually listens to this album all the time. I am of the somewhat controversial opinion that it is no masterpiece, at least not in relation to the greatest albums ever made, for what else is a masterpiece? It is, however, exceptional to a nearly supernatural level. You can't compare a rag-tag bunch of unprofessional musicians' first work to the Pink Floyds and Led Zeppelins of the world. Still, I listen to Fraction more than either of those guys.

There is almost no album of this time period I can think of that matches this level of raw intensity. These guys took burning anger and laid it like a weighted blanket upon surprisingly enticing Christian lyrics, which is a feat on its own. As a result, I do believe it to be the greatest Christian rock album of all time. "Come out of her" is such a disgustingly shreddy and provoking track, I'd understand if a single commanded as much a price as the album does, had the album not existed.

Simply put, I really, really enjoy listening to it. It's the album I am always most excited to tell others about and watch their smile grow into a stank face. I can't speak on technical proficiency or economics, or any other fancy shit y'all harp over, but I would work long and hard hours to get this thing in my hands. Whether or not it feels as mythical and otherworldly as I imagine it does to hold and hear, I have no qualms about calling Moon Blood the holy grail of Psych.

Crazy shit or holy grail? I´m not quite sure which way to go here but after all the band were working-class people who seem to have been christianized and the lead singer Jim Beach really sounds like Jim Morrison at his worst. Apocalyptic bore or real heightening underground experience. This recording is a mystic or somehow strange incident altogether. Frightening, I would say.
Not one of the recordings I listen to all too often but it clears up your mind at the right time. Sheer hell it is.
