This is the place to start if you want Hendrix on vinyl, despite the horrible cover, which was originally on the back of Band of Gipsy's. Considering the price what you get sonically is top-notch here. It's an expanded Smash Hits with ever single and B side.
Comparing "All Along the Watchtower" to the original 7" is very good. The 7" is still better, louder and more dynamic, although the 7 is mono and all Rock pre 1970's sounds better in mono. However comparing it to the third press of Electric electric ladyland on Track (the low-fi version) you get so much more here sonically.
Pressed at a time just before CD was mainstream and before any digital processing was used to remaster and squash the dynamics, when the cutting engineers and lathes and consumer record stylus's had improved vastly. If you can see past the cover it's a total bargain.
