If there's one thing you can guarantee, its that people make mistakes. Especially when selling very expensive records...
If there's mistakes, its down to lack of attention to details, usually met with the classic 'I have 1,000's of records to list' brush off.
And as only 25% (if that) of sellers manage to correctly grade & list items, its a safe bet the 751 'have's' is closer to 180.
That 751 Discogs owners figure will be due to a bunch of merges where by data for multiple releases has been absorbed into this remaining page; & the rest were all bootlegs. -
Haha yeah right …. 748 have this as of July 2024.
Just NOT possible that everybody has the real deal from Dec 1987.
Bullshit. -
So only a few copies of the 1987 VINYL were saved from the bonfire, again "ONLY A FEW COPIES", but it seems that here are 705 people who have one.... One from 1994 or a bootleg or maybe they are needing to wear glasses.
This is also the first time I've heard of The Black Album on CD in 1987; manufactured by Sony BTW.
An original 1987 copy of this record, for 12 €... My chest hurts from laughing so much. Life is full of "miracles". -
I was in Montreal in 1987 when it was released and saw it for $40 at one store, then $60 and at a 3rd store $100 where the owner told me that it had been pulled. So I know a number of copies from Europe ended up in Montreal. Of course I went back and bought a $40 one. When I noticed a US copy a couple of years ago for $50,000 I assumed that mine came from New York but it is actually this European copy. I thought it was worth $8,-$10,000 and am surprised that they are selling for $100. I’m suspicious that these are bootlegs.

Wow bought one last month at a garage sale fore 16 dollars, and it's not even that good in my opinion. I don't understand the hype.

Edited 5 years agoI have a copy which has all the correct info: catalogue number on spine, white 33 in the triangle, exact sticker on reverse, WB embossed logo, correct alignment of track listings. The only difference is that the stamped runout ends in just 'A' rather than 'A2'. Does this suggest there was a previous press, which would also add to the theory that the 'box of 50' is just an urban myth? Otherwise my copy is identical to that listed.
One other difference, the catalogue number is printed on the top spine and left spine. -
