This particular pressing for my ears is the best. It’s a tad thin but the recording itself isn’t the greatest. This one has bass, dynamic range, and is quiet. It’s a good master and nice mix. Sounds best loud.

Edited 4 years agoMasterpiece of Andrew Eldritch's band and philosopher's stone of 80s Brit Goth-Rock. I have 2 vinyl copies (one a spanish 1985 edition) and 2 CDs copies and they all sound fucking great

FWIW, I felt the same way about the MFSL pressing of Floodland as the poster mentioned below about this one despite many contrary opinions from Steve Hoffman Forum . When I first got the MFSL of Floodland, my initial reaction was that this was THE very worst Mobile Fidelity pressing I had ever heard! To me it sounded VERY canned and compressed. So, I returned that one and bought a Promo pressing and a German 1st pressing here, both which I felt sounded a HELL of a lot better! So, for this group I also personally would be very hesitant to purchase the MFSL pressing of this one.

In case it saves anyone any money, my experience with the MoFi silver remaster is that it is not even close to the original vinyl lp, which sounds a lot more chunky, present, dynamic and alive. The MoFi remaster has a very grey, washed out and limp sound.

My version is just the same (labels, same matrix / runout, no rights society), but is NOT gatefold...
