Manufacturing Error Replacement Program
*******************
Some copies of this record, notably in the serial number range 11,000 and the serial range number 14,500 (there may be others), have a manufacturing aberration in track B1 "Walk Of Life". On this particular lacquer and resultant stampers at one point the extreme bass proved difficult to track on some, but not most, turntables. New stampers were subsequently made. Mobile Fidelity acknowledged the problem and by August 2019 was providing replacement disks only via the original vendors or directly to the original purchaser who bought from Mobile Fidelity or Music Direct. The exact number of delivered replacements is unknown. The faulty platters were to be returned to MoFi and destroyed. The limited time for exchanges/returns has a yet-to-be-determined expiration date.

Scared into action by the news of this going out of print I ordered this one.
Fabulous sounding record. -
I have 3 copies of this record. A May 1985 Specialty Pressing(free gifted), a 2019 180g Europe ReIssue ($36), and this 2019 MOFI ($60).
I will start off by saying that ALL three of these pressings sound VERY excellent. They may perhaps be a few of the best sounding records in my collection. Each of them sound just a hair different and special in their own right. They all sound so close that it’s too hard to pick one that sounds “the best”.
I will say that this MoFi pressing has a warmer low end. Nice and roomy. Great sound stage. Good depth. Not as punchy in the vocals and a bit tamer on the highs when compared to my original ‘85 and ‘19 Euro 180g. This is not a bad thing… perhaps gives it a warmer feel over all. But perhaps you may (by a minuscule measurement) miss out on some of the special details you find in the mids/highs on the ‘85 and ‘19. These two albums sound VERY good in the mids. I love all the details you get to hear in these two.
Over all I would say that you cannot go wrong with any of these 3 pressings. I love Brothers In Arms. One of the best audiophile listenings of all time. -
Edited 4 months agoMy first listen to this Mo-Fi 45 rpm this in is similar to when I first heard Mo-Fi's "Bitches Brew". Sounds sooo much better than my previous versions. (OG and Ludwig remastered CD). I'm hearing instruments and vocals so clearly that it sounds like I'm listening directly to the master tape (errrr... original high-res digital file). I figured that if it was originally digitally recorded than the CD should be good enough. Boy was I wrong. (and no skip on walk of life)

I own the Stan Ricker double from 2007 and that sounds amazing. The original U-Matic master was found recently and used for the Abbey Road 1/2 Speed pressing. So all pressings up to that have a second generation master. I'm not a fan of MOFI, I have Love Over Gold and it just sounds like a CD on vinyl. The card sleeves split too. Horrible banner defacing the original artwork. Overpriced junk.

Edited 11 months agoI got 30600 and Walk of Life skipped on 2/3rd of the song. I read that you can MOFI for a replacement disk, so i did. The customer service was very fast. They shipped it on Thuesday from Chicago and i got it at home in the Netherlands within 48 hours (i received it thursday). Tremendous fast shipping and no extra customs costs were involved.
The replacement disk fixed indeed the issue. Also this replacement disk doenst have "clouds" all over the vinyl. My original disk had clouds all over the place. Didnt affect the disk but im not sure if its a bad thing.
Anyways i would recommend anyone to ask for MOFI for a replacement disk. -
Have always held off buying this version as I have a UK OG pressing & also the SBM remastered CD which IMO sounds fantastic. However, as I have the first 4 DS Mofi vinyl albums and with this now going out of print, I finally bit the bullet.
Mine is numbered 28853 & is flawless.
IMO this is by far the best I have ever heard this album sound & it’s certainly outshines the first 4 DS Mofi releases. I’ll now have to get On Every Street to complete the studio album set.
Sorry I didn’t get this much earlier as IMO it’s worth every penny & more. My advice is don’t wait until they are all gone.
One of the best sounding pressings I have ever heard on any system in all my 60+ years. -
