Amazon.de has now a bunch for about 100 Euro which is a lot less than what is being asked...just a heads up!

The Prince Estate so far, has been SERIOUSLY delivering the goods! These Super Deluxe editions of his best albums are over the top fantastic--you get all the alternate/extended mixes, b sides, and best of all VAULT TRACKS.
These mostly unreleased (at least in this quality) are as good as anything that made it onto this album, maybe even better.
The Estate REALLY knows what they are doing and I hope they give all his early albums this exact same treatment. Cannot wait to hear what else is in that Vault... -
1999 always was one of my favourite Prince albums so it's a total blast having a new reason to play it through nice and loud. I don't think it sounds dated at all, but that might just be me. Beyond the album itself, the two vault discs are something else. Not a single dud track, and the really good tracks are really, really, really incredible. Purple Music is probably the stand-out track, I can't decide if it's a proto-house groove or actually just a straight-up house groove. I always wished he would do more stuff like that but hey, he made the 80s great for music so no complaints - very glad to hear it here. Also the version of Feel U Up here, way better than the Partyman b-side. Now, where's the dirty club where I can go dance to some of this stuff...?

Edited 5 years agoFantastic set. The sound quality is amazing. No faults or defects, like the shoddy Purple Rain attempt - THIS IS DELUXE! One thing I shall mention is, the kick drum on the live CD makes a lot of popping in some louder parts (which can be removed, if you spend two hours editing in Audacity) and the infamous Little Red Corvette distortion is still there. But well worth the money and the quality is just spot on.
