I just got this from The Prince official store. Pressed by We are Vinyl. I have no issues with the pressing at all, it's flat and sounds amazing! I'm obsessed with this album, I can't believe a CD sounds better. Zanalee is listed on side B but is the last song on side A. This didn't get corrected, they all got printed, or mis-printed like that. I love the semi-opaque deep smokey purple color from these reissues, too!

The vinyl sounds ok but not great. My CD from 1996 sounds clear than this vinyl from 2019. Sony Music you can do better ! Still nice for the collection.

Edited 5 years agoI'm sorry but I really have to disagree with most of the reviews here. I have no doubt there might be some good pressings of this album out there (perhaps the first 100 or so which came off the pressing machine) but I have personally seen/heard three copies of this album now and all of them were poorly pressed as is the case for all of the Prince purple vinyl issues by MPO I have bought (and I am talking multiple copies here). Every copy I have seen of this release is covered in non-fill, especially on side 2. Every single Prince LP (and in fact every MPO record) I bought in 2019 has had this flaw, which materially damages the listening experience of the record. One copy I sent back was also off-centre, which was the case for the deluxe "Originals" album as well and several copies of 3121 I returned. Either they are pressing records too quickly to meet orders or they just don't care. Whichever is the case, I am not prepared to buy a single record pressed by MPO again. Sick and tired of sending/taking their records back for exchanges and refunds. Life's too short.

This is not bad but CD quality is better. Listening on a Mingda Tube Amp / Pro-ject Classic turntable / FOCAL ARIA 948 speakers and Bronze Ortofon and it does have a slight surface noise all over both sides. Changed it 2 times at the store where I bought it. But it's nice to own it on vinyl. Now if they could stop release everything systematically on Purple Vinyl it would be great .

Played this last night, great sound, heard things I didn't hear on the CD/streaming versions. Great album in a misunderstood era of Prince's career.
-
No concerns here. I've wanted this on wax for years and have no concerns with the master. Sounds great on my system.
-
'Zannalee' is written on side B on the sleeve, but is actually the last song on side A. Plus I am not very happy with the mastering, the CD sounded a lot better.
