English: I had won this Picture Disc at an eBay auction; at a relatively good price. But the international shipping to Mexico increased a little bit the paid price though... A few days later (before my vinyl arrived) I saw reviews and comments about the sound quality (however I already had in mind that the quality of a Picture Disc is lower) . So I was afraid it would have been a bit of a big expense, but when it arrived to me, the first thing I looked at was the picture on side A, which looks much better in person than in pictures. I was amazed, dumbstruck.
Physically speaking: even though its plastic sleeve is actually in a very bad condition (Among Poor and Fair), the vinyl is in a VG+ condition; Even I'd dare to say M-, so I would expect a "good" sound.
And when I put it on my turntable (which is not one of a very good reputation in of quality...), the sound was not really as bad as they say; I mean, the original songs do not have a very excellent quality (from the source), and comparing the sound of the vinyl vs. the digital files of the versions that come out in AFI - Girl's Not Grey (which are the same), I would say that the similarity in quality of the Picture Disc vs. the CD that I mentioned is about 8.3 / 10.
I enjoyed every second of the songs. I expected less but on the other hand I got much more though.
So in summary, I think the Picture Disc has a very good sound quality and is not as bad as they say.
It was really worth it. -
