While an irable achievement, to finish it/this (Taylor’s) version … to me it sounds like most late stage Brian Wilson recordings …. midi/garbage, the Wonderments backing doesn’t help. Smile was fine … in its original configuration and recordings. Yes … the Beach Boys couldn’t tour it which was the problem, plus they barely played on it, so none of the Beach Boys would get royalties.
Smiley Smile was what we got, and that’s a good record to salvage the recording sessions. As we know, Brian checked out … Carl took over and everything was fine. -
I’ve had this since it was released. What an amazing sounding pressing and then there’s that incredible music!!!
