Early '70s Maynard record, great cover arrangements of pop pieces, as per usual. I particularly enjoy "Give It One", "Shaft", and "Spinning Wheel".

Nicely mixed, however the record sounds a little muffled compared to other great sounding jazz records in my stack today. On its own, I never noticed a problem, but it just lacks some presence.

Lots of Maynard Ferguson energy on this album. I believe it is one of the best of the M.F. Horn series. First heard this when released 1972 on the radio when a local DJ played Theme From Shaft and Country Road. Shaft is powerful and the main reason I purchased the album.
