Listening to "Mango di Bango" brought this to mind: "Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, can't you see — somehow your words just hypnotize me..."
-
First off, my fetish for this album started with the textile covered digipack, a funny cover with R. Dorfmeister and R. Huber their heads in the tree. I bought a second hand copy so I am resisting the temptation to bleach clean the dirty cover... Nonetheless, it's a very classy design!
CD1 is your typical Tosca indeed. Very much chilled as usual!
Anna Clementi's vocals on "Oscar" are a great starter.
"Me & Yoko" was slow and weird.
"Gute Laune" is a beautiful dubby disco reggae journey
I love the zang from Zinger on "Wonderful"!
CD2 is soft and slow and envelops you. It is reminescent of some Harold Budd's piano works here and there. It's a shame that the sound saturates too much in some songs and feels like inside a bottle for others... It feels like they put on one CD songs that they know they could put on a stand-alone album, however, it works for me and I really consider it like a bonus CD.
If you want to chill get on CD1, if you want to meditate or close your eyes and drift away, put on CD2. -

I only have CD2, it's all very ambient, piano based stuff. Nice enough to drift off to, but nothing really special.

Edited 18 years agoA sidenote: Notice how there's a track called "La Vendeuse Des Chaussures Des Femmes Part 1," which means there should be Part Two: to my knowledge, it has been released.
From the K7 (K7 is the record company's name) Site:
"In response to demands from our fans, !K7 is starting to release some of it's material in MP3 format...
The MP3 version of this album contains:
- A bonus track, La Vendeuse des Chaussures des Femmes Part 2 in MP3 format."
This was discovered using an older cache of K7's site - K7 has undergone a redesign and have dropped many extra features for Tosca, including any hints as to whether Part 2 whill be included with the MP3 purchase anymore.
-
I personally prefer CD2 as this has more of the 'warm analog' sound so familiar with both K&D and Tosca releases. I feel that the first CD, while first rate, is a little more static and cold. This is my least favorite of any of the Tosca and K&D releases.
-
Definitely a top quality Tosca release.
CD1 is absolutely delicious, going smoothly from classy to funky to mellow.
I wasn't that impressed with CD2, however. -
This release should be seen as a single CD with a bonus CD, I thought the price was low intil i realised that CD1 is the normal TOSCA style and VERY GOOD too! The second bonus CD is very different and slow pianobased tracks...also good but not very much Tosca....
