Damage to the original master tapes for "Heroes" required the remastering team to make decisions that resulted in noticeable differences in some tracks on the final master and public releases.
Parlophone offered to all owners of the box a free replacement Disc 2 with a remastered "Heroes" track that did not contain what sounded like a volume drop. Warners replacement disc offer ended 1 Jun 2018.

CD2 replacement disc is "Heroes" and is not currently considered part of this box set.

All these Bowie boxes are really great. This one is especially meaningful to me, as it contains the wonderful "Lodger" remix. Visconti has managed to make one of my most favourite Bowie albums even more "favourite", now it is there in two splendid versions, not just one. I can't decide, which version I like better, I love them both. "Lodger" is desperately underrated, imo. So far so good.......
BUT: Why the hell are these boxes incomplete? I mean they even contain all the single edits, but such great tracks like "Dodo", "After Today", "It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City", "All Saints", "Some Are", "Abdulmajid" or "I Pray Olé" are simply omitted. W h y ? A simple compilation like "iselect" contains "Some Are" but this box set does not? This is somewhat ridiculous...... -

What is the issue with the Heroes remaster people are talking about. I got a copy I just got from Amazon this month (May 2021) and Heroes sounds normal to me. Is it fixed I guess?

-
Watch out for the cheap copies. The counterfeits are dreadful - can't comment on the sound but the packaging is a poor facsimile of the Parlophone originals
-
Are newer copies issued with the replacement disc, or do they still have the weird "Heroes" remaster?
