Following the weak Bilingual, Nightlife was the straw that broke the camel's back in of fame and fortune for Pet Shop Boys. The success of Very (1993, and the albums preceeding it), would not be repeated ever again.
Nightlife is not particularly bad, but it doesn't have any songs worthy of being singles, despite three being purposed as such, with 'You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk' being the best.
Even with Further Listening consisting of three discs, the only additional song of note is their only Christmas song, 'It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas' (Fan Club Mix, which is the better version, as the 'New Version' included noticeably tacked on elements).
2/5 - at least relative to Behaviour (1990).
