The AOF font is Eurostile #2, btw. This album was recorded Easter Weekend 1985 and it sounds exactly just like that - like a renewal. Cannot praise this album enough. -

Grabs you by the throat and never lets you go. Sincerity, commitment, honesty and timelessness are the key words here. Plus some top notch musicianship and songwriting skills! Deeply rooted in Husker Du's feeling and intensity, AOF managed to deliver two of the best American long players ever recorded. Listen to "Wait For Me" and cry. In the Eighties some hardcore bands wrote the folk music of their time (Minutemen,Husker Du,Rhythm Pigs), a reflection of current affairs and a journey through the soul and worries of a generation and Articles Of Faith excelled at that game. Yes, it's so good and a true must have.

Articles of Faith were one of the best hardcore punk bands ever. Their combination of intelligently balanced angst and frustration at a profoundly unfair and cruel world and at the same time voicing personal struggles with a sincerity so rarely found is remarkable: "And to find out that i eat my words with the same forked tongue that spit them out till i become just what i railed about". Musically wonderful and original, the songs on 'In This Life' are have always been there in the back of my mind since i first heard them in 1990, noteworthy for the very tastful use of harmonies and sing-songy backing vocals over a screaming enraged Vic Bondi. Fierce angst, but not at all tough0guy meathead music. This record touches my soul. I love it to death.
