One of the best or probably the box set ever

Picked up my copy for $20 at my local FYE and it was worth every penny! Fantastic reissue (though I don't have an original to compare it to). Cannot recommend this one enough!

This is THE ONE!

Beautifully pressed by Optimal (unlike the crappy Rainbo US counterpart press) and mastered by Chris Bellman from the og tapes. It sounds better than the noisy recent multi coloured and clear presses which can look cool but dont compare in playback as the noise floor is alot higher. This one lets the mastering shine in full!

JUST GET THIS ONE FOLKS and ignore the noisier if pretty cuts

I love this album. It is to me a time capsule. Although I was not born yet in those times, I stil get so many thrills from listening to this. Splendid!!!

This was my (since-deleted) review of the 1976 Sire reissue of NUGGETS, the Santa Maria pressing, specifically:

"Fantastic collection compiled by Lenny Kaye that became the blueprint for hundreds, if not thousands, of similarly themed releases over the decades. This pressing sounds really good, although "Dirty Water" sounds like it was sourced from an inferior tape. My copy looks beautiful and plays flawlessly, very clean and quiet with no surface noise. I really wanted this on vinyl after previously owning the 1998 Rhino expanded four-disc set. Kinda miss the original 1972 cover art, but this ain't too shabby either. Five stars and a happy face."

I recently picked up a copy of the 2024 Rhino reissue on 'Psychedelic Psplatter' vinyl. Not usually a sucker for colored vinyl, but I dig this, it's definitely eye-catching and quite appropriate. As far as sound quality goes, it might be a bit cleaner and punchier than the Sire pressing, but the difference is negligible on my system. The same songs are in fake stereo, the same songs are in mono, the same songs are in true stereo. My copy just needed a good brushing and it was good to go, plays nice and clean with a couple or faint pops, I'll live, and I'll keep the Rhino for the original artwork. Five stars and an even happier face.

This is a great press of a phenomenal album. No need to crank the sound up. Sounds as good as my original, without the crackle!

Sounds great after a wet clean, friggin’ nice work…until you need ten words

I only give it four stars, more like four and half, because the sleeves aren’t poly-lined or anything. But that’s minor! These sound GREAT and the packaging is really outstanding. I don’t buy much RSD stuff, but I had been looking for these with no luck. And now with an extra disc? Fantastic. Highly recommend this box.

Gave it a spin clean and there are still a lot of cracks n pops especially on disc 1 side B. Overall I can live with it but his is definitely not a flawless pressing.
