Notes
Go for Your Guns is the fifteenth album by The Isley Brothers. Released on April 16, 1977 on their T-Neck label, it was also the band's fifth album to be distributed by their deal with Epic.
The album was remastered and expanded for inclusion in the 2015 released CD box set The RCA Victor & T-Neck Album Masters, 1959-1983.
After four records that were assisted by producers Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff, the Isley Brothers decided to stay in the East Coast choosing to record at upstate New York's Bearsville Studios, not too far from the brothers' T-Neck label in neighboring New Jersey. The album was engineered by John Holbrook assisted by Tom Mark.[1] It was mixed at Media Sound in NYC with Holbrook as mix engineer.
The album also noted Ron Isley's growing transition into singing more ballads, though he still performed lead on some of the band's funkier recordings on the album. Though they had changed their location and had some minor changes during production, most of the direction of the album remained the same as it had for other albums, with stronger emphasis on rock music as evident in the songs "Climbing Up the Ladder" and "Livin' in the Life" than they had on previous albums.

Outstanding! The vinyl is clean and flat. The music is very dynamic. Super full and rich sounding. Detailed with lots of punchy bass. It really fills the room. Amazing job by Ryan Smith and VMP!

Such a dynamic and clean pressing, the sound is punchy and really fills the room with all time classics that this record is filled with. From start to finish this masterpiece keeps you grooving and shaking them hips. It’s hard to find any flaws on this album, except it being too short. It’s a bit hard to find in the Netherlands but if you come across it, grab, pay and run back home fast to throw that needle in it. You won’t be dissatisfied.
Got it for €25,- directly from the personal collection of the owner of Vinyl Archief, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

Definitely much better than I thought it would be! Cleaner sound than an original pressing I've owned. I don't have the VMP version to compare this to but this a great sounding to add to the collection. -
Edited 2 years agoI had a hard time believing this could be better than my original Canadian press, which was already incredible sounding.
Wow.
This release is absolutely stunning, it has such a beautiful sound with bass that sits perfectly. You feel it in your gut! Everything is so clear and it's enhanced from the already great original. You would be happy with a clean original, but this one steps it up in every aspect. The sturdy glossy cover is icing on the cake. -

Was lucky enough to find a used copy yesterday for $15 at a local shop. A/B'd this with my original pressing, and this VMP cut absolutely smokes it. The best this album has ever sounded by a lot.
