Very nice clear sound on this clear vinyl. Nice gatefold sleeve and innersleeve with black & white photos.

Does anyone know if there's any more differences between the 2005 1st press and 2018 reissue other than Matrix numbers? The info is a bit vague with the lack of pics/details on the entry for the 2018 pressing.

Great pressing, minimal surface noise even between tracks. Drums and bass kick ass!

Comparing this reissue to the original pressing from 2005. The bass is slightly more forward within the mix of the repress. This seems to make the soundstage more densely packed, compared to the first pressing. An added touch of "loudness" for 2020's ears?

Bought this recently from a local dealer who is known to have a huge stock of records, but still, I'm surprised to see that this version was theoretically released 11 years ago. Too bad that this sub: Editors - The Back Room has currently zero info, except the year of release (2018). My copy looks immaculate, no traces of long storage at all, almost like a hot off the press. Mine has the matrix variant 3 in the deadwax. Could be a more recent repress, but nothing seems to differentiate it from the description and the pictures currently appearing on this page, apart maybe the fact that it has a round hype sticker on the shrink saying "includes a code for the album". And the MP3 (funny in 2023) still works :) Files were created in September 2012, according to the metadata.
Pressing is flawless. Recording is a bit compressed, like most of the similar musics produced back then (even today...) but nothing really disturbing, it's very much enjoyable to listen, brings back nice memories.

My copy comes without a code. Ordered it at the big A.

This album sounds excellent but a tad heavy on the bass. Overall really solid though and I would say buy with confidence.

As far as indie-rock goes, this is the perfect debut. Each individual song finely crafted. The production gives you a feel of the band as a whole. You can tell that these lads spent weeks/months rehearsing these tunes before they went into the studio. Every player here knows his place - and the performance is stellar. Amazing guitar effect work - but never over the top. And as for Tom's voice... goosebumps. Very expressive and emotional when he has to be. This album could not have turned out any better. Still sounds as good today as the day they blew me away in 2005. A must have for any indie-rock lover.
