Edited 2 years agoHot take alert ! For me, this is his best album! Highest standard of songwriting across the board. It's lacks the synthwork of Bridges and the raw emotional power of pieces of a man/winter in America, but more than makes up for it with the organic funky band, the top notch songwriting, resulting in IMO his most complete and cohesive album. "legend in his own mind" is the one for me.

This album is incredible! Tight musicianship and dynamic tunes house complex topics like aging, womanizing, and the Klan. It seems seldom talked about but definitely in his top 3 records in my book.
