Notes
First live album released on June 22nd 1979.
Officially, the entire back catalogue was re-issued for the first time on CD in 1986, and again on CD/tape in remastered form in 1991 for the US market (via Hollywood Records and usually adding a few non-album tracks or remixes not included on the original versions). Parlophone also re-issued the remastered versions in 1993/1994, and subsequently several additional re-remastered versions (some in glorious 5.1 DTS) have appeared.
A trimmed-down version of this album was released in 1985 to co-incide with their 1984/1985 "Works" world tour, grouped separately in Live In Concert.

Hi. Does anyone know if this release here also exists with the inner sleeves opened from the text side? like Queen - Live Killers
The matrix / runouts of my copy are more similar to this version here, but not yet listed as a variant. -
I have a version with run out "60 792 A-2" on side A, but it is actually Queen on side A, not Alan Parsons Project ...
-
Hi, can anyone confirm they have any knowledge of this release with the original matrix numbers or 1_u ? My packaging is identical to the listed item.
-
I don't know how this original sounds, but this doesn't sound very well. Perhaps the recording (it's from an old concert in 1979) was poor?

Edited 9 months agoThe copy I just received from QueenOnline.com has a different barcode on the OBI but the discs have the same identifiers. Does it need it's own page or just a note added to this one? The serial number also has a K at the end and the release date on the website is 19 Jul 2024 (even though it wasn't announced until 31 Jul 2024).
-
On the website it says newly resized artwork by Queen designer Richard Gray. Is this bigger than the 2004 Japanese mini LP CD formats? I'd like to buy Live KIllers as I've most of the mini LPs from 2005.

On my copy , it sounds great . The mastering is good for a live recording . The lows are present and some dynamics in it . The green and red colour vinyl is a plus and makes this a nice add on to your queen collection .
-
Well, have to include this one in my list of all time favourite live albums. What more could you expect? A stunning performance, the mix being debated but I like it, as I do like George Marino's mastering and the quality of this German pressing. A live killer, indeed.

Live Killers is not a bad album. It’s more very good bootleg quality than anything else. It’s riddled with edits too but it’s a good snapshot of Queen at the end of the 70s. Speaking of snapshots, Brian May is superimposed into the sleeve photo!
Live albums can be a love or hate thing for me as I get bored with run of the mill runs through a back catalog with crowd noise but this is Queen striped down, lean and mean.
The material isn’t bad but some very popular tracks were left off the album. The guitar solo is a bit tedious but Queen were known to overindulge at times. I like the acoustic part of the shows as it’s a bit of fun.
I do think “You’re My Best Friend” sounds a bit rushed and disposable, “Tie Your mother Down” and “Sheer Heart Attack” are shabby near the end too.
It would have been nice to hear “Somebody to Love” and “It’s Late” on the set.
Roger Taylor has since disowned Live Killers but everytime I play it I listen to the whole album and enjoy every single minute of it.
Forget what people say about the sound quality, it sounds fine. I’ve a few different versions on CD and to be honest I’m not too fussed about any one in particular. Better still grab the vinyl LP and get ready to rock! -
I’ve never been a big live album guy, but with Freddie Mercury gone, it’s nice to have such high quality performances in the archive. This record definitely captures how powerful this band was in its prime. This pressing is outstanding, especially considering it is an RCA Music Service offering.
